About The Position

The Operations Data Analyst extracts operations data for analysis, leadership support and responses to ad hoc data requests. The incumbent maintains operations tools & databases ensuring that it is kept up-to-date using data from various PG&E systems. He/She develops, maintains and enhances operational metric database tools for the broader analytics team(s). The Analyst identifies and solves current gaps in data requirements and ease of access to ensure fast and consistent responses to leadership inquiries. This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The expectation is that this person will be in the office 1 to 2 days per week. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree in Marketing, Business, Computer Science, Engineering or other related field or equivalent work experience
  • 6 years of related work experience

  • Advanced project management skills to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced skill in GIS analysis (proximity and overlay analysis).
  • Advanced skill in writing SQL queries using Oracle or Business Objects.
  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Power BI (report, visuals, dashboard)
  • Strong knowledge of Git and Palantir Foundry tools
  • Advanced skill in Python for data manipulation, statistical analysis and modeling (numpy, matplotlib, pandas, geopandas, pyspark).
  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, graphing, VBA).
  • Familiarity with utility operations.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manages complex data analysis projects with limited supervision on only the most complex projects from initial request to presenting data results ensuring that the project is completed within budget and on-time.
  • Designs data analysis to achieve business objectives, process data, analyze data, write clear and concise data findings and tailor communications to specific audiences. Creates automated data routines and processes for reporting and data delivery ensuring accurate data manipulation and data cleansing.
  • Manages very complex data extracts and list pulls ensuring data accuracy. Manages extracting data and transferring the data from databases to various analysts to support operational analysis efforts
  • Analyzes data using various advanced statistical tools to develop complex ad hoc reports, statistics, trends and profiles.
  • Demonstrates and utilizes broad expertise in data processing and data analysis and applies this knowledge to a number of different issues.
  • Provides new and innovative solutions and recommendations to enhance database(s) with new data sources and improved data processes
  • Develops comprehensive reports and communicates clear, concise and actionable data analyses for clients.
  • Process spatial data and demonstrates the ability to clean, transform, integrate and analyze large spatial datasets including shapefiles, raster data, and other geospatial datasets
  • Support predictive modeling with techniques such as statistical models, logistical regression, decision trees, and other supervised/unsupervised learning methods.
  • Works with Directors and Managers across functions to influence decisions.
