About The Position

This role supports systems/applications for multiple business areas, involving the analysis of low to moderate complexity system or process changes to provide business requirements for necessary modifications. The analyst will establish and execute test cases to identify defects and assess the quality of system solution deliveries. Coordination and communication with team members and stakeholders are crucial to improve and achieve a positive member experience that supports Wellmark’s strategies. The ideal candidate is a self-directed, systems-focused analyst who enjoys researching, testing, and validating system configurations and downstream functions. They are naturally inquisitive, comfortable navigating multiple systems, and motivated to independently identify issues, especially in audit and compliance-driven work, while managing deadlines and priorities with minimal oversight. Experience supporting system implementations and testing, including early-stage initiatives, is expected, along with the ability to confirm future-state readiness through careful analysis and execution of test cases. A strong technical mindset focused on efficiency, automation, and adoption of new tools is key. Solid Excel skills are required, with openness to tools like Power BI for dashboarding and automation. Overall, this role fits someone who balances attention to detail with adaptability, communicates clearly with stakeholders, and contributes to a collaborative, continuously improving team.

Requirements

Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience
2+ years of business analysis, systems, configurations, or related experience; OR 3+ years’ health insurance operations experience (e.g. claims, customer service, membership & enrollment, etc.). Includes 2 years’ proven subject matter expertise across multiple market segments, products, benefit plans, contract language, or insurance rules and regulations
Ability to perform, document, and or guide others through a series of related steps and takes action to improve existing conditions and processes
Ability to identify issues or inconsistencies; obtains relevant information, relates and compares data from different sources and identifies alternative solutions
Proficient written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate to team members and stakeholders.
Ability to facilitate conversations with varying audiences
Ability to intellectually learn and grow through the mentoring of experienced Business Support Analysts
Proactive self-starter with effective time management skills and the ability to independently organize and prioritize projects/initiatives or tasks.
Flexible and adaptable to change
Analytical problem-solving skills and attention to detail; ability to identify and approach complex problems from different angles and apply technical knowledge to policies/procedures
Proven efficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (for Sr level)
3+ years of critical business technical knowledge, business analysis, systems, configurations or related experience (for Sr level)
Ability to coach and mentor others through guidance or feedback (for Sr level)

Responsibilities

Support applications/systems within multiple business areas.
Analyze, define, and validate business requirements for necessary system modifications, enhancements, upgrades etc.
Analyze and troubleshoot system/application issues of low to moderate complexity.
Seek to understand issue and impact to business.
Create incident tickets and facilitate and coordinate involvement across Operations and other support teams as necessary to ensure incident is resolved end to end.
May lead and coordinate testing efforts, including test scenario design.
Use a variety of techniques to ensure applications are being validated according to the testing plan.
Write and execute test cases, documenting traceability and findings ensuring accurate and timely outcomes.
Keep informed, support and adhere to regulations ensuring systems and processes are compliant with corporate policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
Consistently communicate and collaborate with team members, technology, and other stakeholders for the purpose of aligning business requirements and solutions with customer expectations.
Coach, mentor and provide guidance to other Business Support team members.
Collaborate with Technical Writers and other stakeholders to confirm desk-level procedures and process/system documents are created/updated.
Ensure accurate tracking of all hours in reporting system(s) for all work efforts.
Other duties as assigned.
