About The Position

Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, is looking for a Part Time Operations Associate/Cardiac Monitor Technician to join our team in Springfield, MA. This role involves supporting unit operations, managing patient information, facilitating communication, and observing cardiac monitors. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, 1-2 years of customer service experience (healthcare setting preferred), and medical administrative experience is strongly preferred. Prior EKG training is a huge plus. The candidate must be able to work rotating days, including weekends and holidays, and be computer literate.

Responsibilities

  • Track, prioritize, and assign beds, coordinating with various departments for admissions, discharges, and transfers (ADTs).
  • Utilize various computer applications including C Word, OA Gold, SMS, CIS, Premise, BMD, PCM Auditor, People Soft, and Kronos.
  • Participate in unit-specific projects such as payroll, committee participation, and developing unit time schedules.
  • Provide report/handoff to the next shift, including pending discharges, admissions in process, and bed status.
  • Serve as a unit-based resource for Hospitalist and medical/surgical teaching teams, assisting during clinical rounds.
  • Maintain patient charts in proper sequence, prepare records for transfer and discharge, and organize charts for Medical Records.
  • Function as a greeter for new patients/families, assist other departments with information, and prepare staffing assignments.
  • Inventory, maintain, and charge supplies, initiating requisitions and requests accurately.
  • Initiate emergency procedures as needed/directed within the unit/department and mobilize emergency support personnel.
  • Observe cardiac monitors, identify and report irregular rhythms to a registered nurse, and record/process EKG monitor strips.
  • Demonstrate competency for one-to-one observation of patients.
  • Complete the required dysrhythmia course (telemetry) and pass competency upon completion.
