About The Position

The Operations and Finance Specialist is an individual contributor role responsible for supporting office operations, financial reporting, process coordination, and administrative activities in a fast-paced, field-based utility construction environment. This position works closely with operations leadership and corporate departments to help ensure financial accuracy, process efficiency, and reliable administrative support across transmission projects statewide. This role requires a highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented professional capable of managing multiple priorities, maintaining accurate information, and supporting a large workforce and dynamic operational demands.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in office administration, finance or accounting support, project coordination, or operations support.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional teams and coordinating with field operations.
  • Strong analytical skills and working knowledge of financial and job cost information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel) and financial reporting tools.
  • Experience using ERP systems and working with job cost data.
  • Ability to interpret financial statements and project cost reports.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in construction, utilities, or field-based operations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, financial modeling, data analysis).
  • Experience supporting transmission, T&D, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Experience supporting process improvement or operational efficiency initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, analyze, and present weekly labor and equipment reports, including direct job costs.
  • Support operations leadership with budgeting, cost tracking, job profitability, and variance analysis.
  • Track labor productivity, equipment utilization, and overhead allocation, and flag significant variances for review.
  • Support the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasting activities.
  • Process and review accounts payable and job cost information in accordance with established internal controls.
  • Identify financial trends, discrepancies, and unusual variances, and communicate findings to leadership for review.
  • Review P&L statements and project cost reports and provide supporting information for leadership decision-making.
  • Document office and operational processes and support improvements that increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Follow and maintain standardized workflows for reporting, payroll support, procurement, and project tracking.
  • Perform assigned work in accordance with company policies, contractual requirements, and utility client expectations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across operations and administration.
  • Provide day-to-day administrative and reporting support to field and office personnel.
  • Help maintain clear procedures, deadlines, and documentation standards for assigned processes.
  • Contribute to a responsive, service-oriented office environment.
  • Assist with training and onboarding employees on office processes, systems, and reporting requirements.
  • Serve as a point of contact between field operations and corporate departments for assigned administrative and reporting matters.
  • Coordinate with HR, safety, accounting, and operations teams.
  • Support workforce planning, onboarding logistics, and personnel tracking.
  • Assist leadership with operational initiatives, special projects, and information requests.
  • Manage competing priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Coordinate assigned daily office operations and administrative activities.
  • Process and track payroll inputs, vendor invoices, and purchase orders, and follow up on discrepancies as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting systems.
  • Support audit readiness and internal reviews.
