About The Position

Bowhead seeks an Operations Analyst to support Bowhead's Advanced Technologies business line located in King George, VA. The Operation Analyst supports cross-functional operations within the Advanced Technology business unit, contributing to configuration management, machine shop planning, and logistics. This role is ideal for a versatile individual able to manage detailed documentation, support manufacturing workflows, and coordinate material and program activities across engineering, production, and management teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, science, or engineering.
  • Five (5+) years of experience in configuration management, logistics, manufacturing planning, or a combination of these disciplines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear documentation and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business tools.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a small-business environment.
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level.
  • US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within the defense contracting community.
  • Familiarity with machine shop operations or manufacturing workflows.
  • Knowledge of configuration management principles (MIL‑STD or equivalent).
  • Experience with ERP/MRP or inventory systems.
  • Ability to read or interpret engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Manage configuration-controlled documentation such as BOMs, revisions, and engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrate competence in planning and coordinating shop workflows, tooling, materials, and work instructions.
  • Demonstrate strong logistics capabilities including inventory control, procurement, receiving, shipping, and material handling.
  • Demonstrate skill in organizing and tracking program activities, schedules, and tasking.
  • Demonstrate exceptional oral and written communication skills for clear interaction with engineers, machinists, suppliers, and customers.
  • Develop, maintain, and refine internal processes and documentation.
  • Maintain configuration management documentation and ensure proper revision control and traceability.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate machine shop activities to support fabrication, prototyping, and production.
  • Oversee logistics functions including inventory management, procurement, receiving inspection, and outbound shipments.
  • Support program operations through schedule updates, reporting, documentation control, and inter-team communication.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to translate requirements into work instructions and shop activities.
  • Maintain parts lists, process documentation, and material traceability in accordance with quality and defense-industry standards.
  • Prepare clear written reports, updates, and communications for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in developing, improving, and enforcing internal processes and SOPs.
  • Perform general office, program support, and project coordination tasks as required.

Benefits

  • Target salary range is between $90,000 - $105,000 commensurate with experience.
