This is a highly responsible and mission critical position in the Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) and Viral Hepatitis Section that requires expert support of the operations, communications, organization, and management of the Surveillance Tools and Reporting System (STARS). The position requires a mastery of email communication, use of Microsoft Office products, exceptional organizational skills, and attention to detail. As administrative and technical support for the Surveillance Tools and Reporting System STARS team, the position is responsible for record keeping related to enhancements of the application, assuring that timelines are being met, and some quality assurance efforts related to specific data collected and reported to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta. The position is responsible for the receipt, STARS entry and assignment of all Intrastate Information Control Records (ICCR) incoming patient documents from all 50 states and territories. In addition, is responsible for all outgoing ICCR documents originating within Florida and are sent to the 50 states for follow-up investigation of persons exposed to STDs/HIV. Enters patient data into the STARS system to meet deadlines for case management and monitors timeframes for completion of investigative work by STD field staff as well as out-of-state records that owe Florida a timely disposition of their STD investigation. All information must be organized and documented accurately and completely following the current procedures for processing and the established protocols and procedures. Maintains a high-volume electronic filing system, arranges for storage, retrieves or reproduces documents, records and reports as required by the STARS team. Coordinates and directs office services, maintains lead responsibility to respond to information requests from Florida’s STD program field staff and all STD Programs within the contiguous United States. Assists with ensuring client demographic information is reported correctly from outside jurisdictions, ensures timely phone communication of disease reports and exposures to STD programs, directs incoming phone and email inquiries to the correct unit or individual responsible for the subject matter, and assistance with routine quality control review for duplicate records, incomplete forms, and timely disposition of assignments provided. Knowledgeable of current data entry processes, standards and procedures. Provide customer service to external partners and keep them apprised of any revision. Knowledgeable of STARS system software, and all the peripheral system and hardware required to facilitate the duties and responsibilities for this position. Knowledgeable of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Florida’s reporting laws pertaining to reportable diseases. Assists with the processing of incoming mail and faxes from providers, insurance companies, and laboratories related to sexually transmitted infections. Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.
