About The Position

The North Los Angeles County Regional Center (NLACRC) is seeking an Operations Accounting Supervisor to lead and motivate their team in providing excellent support to coworkers, vendors, and individuals served. This role involves leading by example, fostering a collaborative environment, and supervising both the payroll and operations accounting teams. The position is responsible for overseeing payroll processing, bank reconciliations, operations payables, and managing fixed assets. The supervisor will also assist with monthly and annual closing processes, financial reporting, and developing/maintaining accounting procedures. Collaboration with the accounting management team and participation in the management team for departmental needs and special projects are key aspects of this role. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
  • A minimum of 4 years of payroll experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • A minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices
  • Good organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively as a part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Word and MS Outlook
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Must be comfortable supporting staff in the field or working remotely and being available to staff.
  • Frequent telephone, virtual, and out-of-office meetings required.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation, or acceptable substitute, required.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and motivates their team to provide excellent support to coworkers, vendors, and individuals we serve.
  • Selects, trains, supervises, evaluates, and motivates staff.
  • Supervises payroll team, monitors and evaluates payroll processing procedures, ensures timely and accurate processing of payroll, and implements quality assurance measures.
  • Supervises operations accounting team.
  • Oversees bank reconciliations and operations payables, ensuring accurate and timely payments.
  • Manages and maintains accountability for fixed assets.
  • Develops and conducts various trainings as needed.
  • Assists with monthly and annual closing process.
  • Assists with financial reporting, cash and expenditure projections and various reporting requirements.
  • Guides the completion of staff assignments by coaching and training all staff to perform multiple tasks in the event of absences.
  • Maintains and reviews accounting procedures, makes improvements when necessary, and plays a key role in implementing new systems and tools to increase efficiency.
  • Assists in developing policies and procedures and in making recommendations for the department.
  • Collaborates with the accounting management team to support the needs of the organization.
  • Participates on the management team to recommend and determine department needs and practices.
  • Assumes leadership role on special projects as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
