About The Position

Mosaic is seeking an Operations Accountant to work out of their Nanaimo office on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. This role supports both operations and finance through a broad range of accounting, reporting, systems, and analytical responsibilities. The role is responsible for supporting the accuracy, integrity, and effectiveness of financial records, reporting, contractor settlements, and operational financial systems.

Requirements

  • Experience working with integrated systems and financial reporting tools
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in financial analysis, cost accounting, or management accounting
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Power Query, reporting automation, AI tools, business intelligence tools, or data analytics is considered an asset
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
  • CPA designation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and effectiveness of financial systems and financial records
  • Developing and improving tracking, reporting, and data workflows to support financial reporting
  • Providing financial analysis and insight to support operational and business decision-making
  • Preparing and analyzing month-end transactions, reconciliations, and management reporting
  • Supporting intercompany transactions, journal entries, accruals, and other month-end accounting processes
  • Supporting Operations Administrators with contract administration and technical systems support
  • Reviewing contracts and approving contractor pay settlements through financial systems
  • Supporting annual budgeting, forecasting, and month-end reporting activities
  • Preparing and reconciling regulatory, and government financial reporting requirements
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives related to data modelling, reporting automation, and financial systems
