About The Position

The Operations Accountant, Land Development collaborates with Project Managers and other key operational team members to understand the business, analyze spend, cost efficiencies, and cash flows. You drive innovation by building and future proofing models and tools, analyzing and generating new financial and operational reports, and automating new and established processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or other related field.
  • 2+ years’ accounting or financial analyst experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial reporting processes, reconciliations, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA, CFA or equivalent qualification is an asset.
  • Familiarity with residential property operations, rent rolls, tenant ledgers, deposits, recoveries, and property management systems is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Query an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge in project cost accounting and reporting an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in internal controls and processes an asset
  • Desire for continuing education and personal development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial analysis, consolidate and review financial data of projects and new acquisitions, including the evaluation of revenue and work in progress
  • Streamline and automate existing and new review processes
  • Provide project accounting support to Project Managers and Construction Teams including various operational reports, cash flows, and variance analysis
  • Prepare various ad hoc analysis as required by management
  • Support the preparation of the Quarterly Divisional Update and other Board presentation material for the Land Development Division
  • Support in the generation of the annual budget, quarterly financial forecast, and monthly cash flows
  • Maintain Lot Payables and Acquisition tracking for the Calgary and Edmonton regions
  • Support internal inventory management processes, issuing invoices, and reconciling regional inventory
  • Provide backup for key Monthly and Quarterly processes
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
