About Your New Role: Reporting to the Superintendent, Safety & Training, the Safety & Training Advisor – Mill, will be responsible for providing mill training and other specialized training for all site personnel. You will be involved in collaborating with and creating and maintaining training programs and procedures. You will liaise with the Mill Operations crew to improve training and safety where possible and will be heavily involved in training and assessing all operations on surface.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate a drive, self-motivated and passionate approach to the health & safety profession.
  • Strong leadership, management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Work independently and within a team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • A positive and proactive attitude towards safety is essential.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in heavy equipment operations in industry experience.
  • Mining or milling experience as a training specialist.
  • Coordinate training activities and maintain administrative functions.
  • Conducting theoretical training in a classroom environment and practical training at the worksite.
  • Support and facilitate the development, administration and maintenance of safety and training policies and procedures.
  • Support all Health and Safety Management Program activities.
  • Coordinate and conduct inspections of operations, ensuring strict compliance with company and regulatory H&S requirements, provide recommendations and follow up to make sure that non-compliance issues are corrected in a timely fashion.

Nice To Haves

  • Mine Rescue would be considered an asset.
  • While not a defined minimum requirement, a current mine rescue or mine rescue instructor certificate will be a definite asset.
  • Building and evaluating training programs.
  • ADDIE model knowledge to build training programs is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and train SGO personnel as required.
  • Improve safety and training standards.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and promote company standards.
  • Develop and prepare safety and training programs.
  • Assess an employee’s training needs using analyses.
  • Design and develop training for the mill and other departments.
