About The Position

Intreped Partners is seeking a highly analytical and mission-focused Operational Research and Systems Analyst (ORSA) to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. This position will provide strategic, operational, and analytical support to initiatives focused on Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD), emerging threat analysis, organizational assessment, and decision support. The ideal candidate is a critical thinker with strong quantitative and qualitative analytical capabilities who can synthesize complex information into actionable insights for senior leaders and stakeholders. This role requires the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced Department of Defense environment. This is a full-time, on-site position located at Fort Belvoir, VA.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Operations Research, Systems Analysis, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related technical field with 10+ years of relevant experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 15+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, Federal Government, or national security organizations in operational research, systems analysis, organizational assessment, or data analytics roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data sets and synthesize findings into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Experience developing executive-level reports, assessments, briefing materials, and decision-support products.
  • Proficiency with data visualization and analytical tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Microsoft Excel, or similar platforms.
  • Experience managing and analyzing data using enterprise systems, databases, and workflow management tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief senior government and military leadership.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Joint Staff, Combatant Commands (CCMDs), or related DoD organizations.
  • Familiarity with DTRA mission areas, CWMD operations, and defense-related assessment methodologies.
  • Knowledge of CJCS guidance, operational planning processes, and DoD assessment frameworks.
  • Experience with advanced quantitative analysis, modeling, simulation tools, or database management systems.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility preferred.
  • Experience supporting strategic planning, capability assessments, or operational effectiveness initiatives within the national security community.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of a multidisciplinary assessment and analysis team supporting DTRA mission objectives and organizational assessment initiatives.
  • Conduct operational research, systems analysis, and data-driven assessments to address complex organizational, operational, and strategic challenges.
  • Collect, analyze, validate, and manage qualitative and quantitative data in support of performance measurement, organizational assessments, and strategic decision-making efforts.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of formal assessment frameworks, methodologies, metrics, and reporting processes.
  • Analyze Agency, DoD, and national security strategies, policies, doctrine, operational plans, and emerging trends to provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
  • Develop assessment products, executive summaries, briefing materials, reports, and data visualizations to effectively communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Facilitate and support meetings, workshops, working groups, and assessment reviews with government stakeholders and mission partners.
  • Review and evaluate program deliverables, requirements documentation, policy drafts, technical papers, and related materials for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with mission objectives.
  • Support organizational and programmatic assessments related to resource allocation, operational effectiveness, and strategic priorities.
  • Coordinate the development of evaluation methodologies, analytical frameworks, and assessment deliverables in accordance with DoD and Agency guidance.
  • Utilize data visualization and reporting tools to present complex analytical findings in clear, concise, and impactful formats.
  • Provide recommendations to senior leadership regarding operational effectiveness, process improvements, and mission support strategies.
