About The Position

The Operating Room Technician is a non-certified position that performs various tasks supporting perioperative services, including preparation of operating room, transport of patients, supplies, equipment, and specimens. This position assists surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other members of an operating room team by preparing patients for their procedures, sterilizing equipment, and maintaining environmental cleanliness before, during and after surgical procedures. This position, also, provides technical assistance to the surgeon by passing instruments, ensuring the functioning of instruments, and keeping instruments free of debris during surgical procedures. The Operating Room Technician monitors the patient's vitals during surgical procedures. Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED required

  • OR Technician Experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain a safe and sterile environment for surgical patients.
  • Assist in proper patient transferring to and from O.R. table.
  • Assist in maintenance and care of specimens following established procedures.
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of patient care demonstrating technical competency.
  • Collaborate and actively participate with the circulator in planning and preparations based upon needs of patient, surgical procedure, and physician reference.
  • Assist patients to maximize comfort in a caring, respectful manner.
  • Respond to patient requests as appropriate.
  • Monitor the patient's vitals during surgical procedures.
  • Pass instruments to the surgeon.
  • Ensure the functioning of instruments.
  • Keep instruments free of debris during surgical procedures.
  • Sterilize equipment.
  • Maintain environmental cleanliness before, during and after surgical procedures.
  • Prepare the operating room.
  • Transport patients, supplies, equipment, and specimens.
