About The Position

As an Operating Room Technician, you will provide technical and supportive services as a member of the surgical healthcare team in a fast-paced operating room. You will prepare the surgical suite, maintain sterile conditions, and assist during procedures to support patient outcomes. The role involves setting up the operating room in advance using physician preference cards to gather the instruments, supplies, and equipment needed for each case. You will apply aseptic technique, anticipate surgical needs, collaborate with the team, and help maintain a safe working environment.

Requirements

• One year of operating room experience, or graduation from an accredited surgical technology program with an externship at Methodist Hospital Main.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
• Competence in psychomotor skills and technical procedures.
• Understanding of aseptic technique principles.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room in advance to prevent schedule delays and facilitate case flow.
• Use physician preference cards or receipts to obtain instruments, supplies, and equipment for each case.
• Apply aseptic technique when preparing for and assisting with surgical procedures, and create and maintain a sterile field.
• Maintain adequate supplies during procedures, anticipate needs, and actively participate in surgical procedures.
• Contain, handle, and dispose of sharps safely.
