About The Position

Posterity Group LLC is seeking an Operating Room Scheduler to staff The Naval Medical Clinic San Diego and associated locations. This role is crucial for managing the daily operations of the main operating room, ensuring efficient scheduling, block time utilization, and case coordination. The scheduler will be responsible for data entry into surgical scheduling systems and maintaining clear communication with surgical services, anesthesia, and perioperative leadership to support efficient OR operations.

Requirements

High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency.
Basic medical terminology required.
Experience in medical or surgical scheduling (operating room scheduling preferred).
Proficiency with scheduling software (MHS Genesis), Microsoft Office applications.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

Receives surgical requests; validates submitted information; schedules surgery and completes request.
Enters data in S3, or other computer scheduling system without errors (i.e., typographical, spelling or missing fields).
Notifies OR Operations Officer/service team chief if special equipment, machines, grafts are requested.
Develops Daily Schedules, Advanced Schedules and Templates; prints next day’s preliminary schedule by 0800 for review and approval by OR Operations Officer.
Tracks and releases OR block time 7 calendar days prior to OR date.
Maintains accurate and complete documentation of schedule-related OR activity which includes tracking and reporting to element chief/OR designee.
Imports data into the Essentris.
Reviews procedural lists and codes and confers with coders to maintain currency.
Updates lists at least on a quarterly basis.
Manages Main Operating Room surgical schedules, block time utilization, case coordination, data entry into surgical scheduling systems, and communication with surgical services, anesthesia, and perioperative leadership to support efficient OR operations.
