About The Position

United Health Services is seeking a Staff Registered Nurse, Operating Room to join their team at UHS Wilson Medical Center. The Operating Room team is described as a cohesive, highly skilled, and supportive group of professionals dedicated to delivering outstanding surgical care. This role offers exposure to a wide range of surgical specialties and the opportunity to collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across the hospital. The position is available for Full-Time & Part-Time opportunities and includes 1 weekend per month (Saturday & Sunday shifts) with an on-call shift following each weekend shift. The role involves contributing to strategic planning, driving departmental goals, and leading with empathy in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Current New York State Registered Nurse License.
  • A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing
  • Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting
  • CCRN
  • Relevant skills certification (i.e., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by home unit assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements and evaluates nursing care in managing a group of patients, serving as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse, when designated by unit assignment and consideration of factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost and impact.
  • Educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
  • Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to UHS Hospitals policy.
  • Shares in responsibility for productivity and effective resources utilization including staffing, time management, supplies and services.
  • Complies with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and UHS policies.
  • Actively participates in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model by supporting the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review practices.
  • Actively engages in professional development, continuing nursing education, and completing all mandatory education requirements.
  • Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice.
  • Provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
  • Performs duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned.
