About The Position

The Operating Room Clinical Nurse Manager directs, plans, and coordinates service activities and staffing performance for professional nursing and auxiliary nursing personnel to support quality patient care. The role may also provide direct patient care. The MGH Main OR team includes OR nurses, surgical technologists, equipment technicians, OR assistants, and OR coordinators caring for patients undergoing complex surgical procedures. The position is onsite at 90 Blossom Street and works an evening schedule, typically 3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m. The department will also consider nine 9-hour shifts over a two-week period, working 2:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m. with every other Friday off.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Registered Nurse (RN) state license required.
Two to three years of nursing experience required.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Excellent critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Strong commitment to clinical excellence.
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
Knowledge of care required by the respective age groups receiving care.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in Nursing preferred.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association preferred.
One to two years of nursing leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensure the development, implementation, and evaluation of staff onboarding, training, and education.
Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback for staff.
Ensure a positive work environment that is safe for patients, visitors, and staff.
Coordinate unit activities with other hospital departments.
Develop and implement staffing plans.
Direct, plan, and coordinate service activities and staffing performance of professional nursing and auxiliary nursing personnel.
May provide direct patient care.
