About The Position

Responsible for ensuring excellent patient care, maintaining safety standards, and providing support to patients and staff within the operating room environment. Promotes a patient and family-centered care philosophy through professional and courteous interactions with patients, families, and hospital personnel. Provides hospital and unit orientation information to patients, families, and visitors. Demonstrates knowledge of hospital systems, procedures, department locations, and available patient services. Refers patients, families, and visitors to appropriate resources as needed. Independently transports patients and assists with patient transfers. Properly identifies patients using two approved patient identifiers. Ensures patient safety and comfort during transport and transfer, including appropriate use of safety measures and patient support. Adheres to special precautions and protocols when transporting patients with isolation or other safety requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Medical Office/Hospital/Managed Care Experience 0-1 year required
  • Must be able to comprehend written directions for mixing cleaning supplies and ordering supplies
  • Must be aware of proper body mechanics when assisting in patient transfer and lifting of heavy objects
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with other health care members
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the surgical team
  • Must constantly be alert and attentive to progress of O.R. schedule to meet tight deadlines
