About The Position

IU Health Methodist is a Level 1 Trauma facility in downtown Indianapolis with 29 operating suites and specialties including Trauma, Orthopedics, Cardiovascular, Vascular, Neurology, and General Surgery. Operating Room Assistants support the surgical team before, during, and after surgery. They prepare operating rooms by cleaning, procuring equipment, and opening sterile supplies; transport patients and provide needed assistance with patient care; and assist surgical technologists and nurses with assigned duties. The position works as a member of a team that includes surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, surgical technologists, and other surgical personnel. This is a full-time evening-shift position, Monday through Friday. Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
AHA Basic Life Support certification for healthcare workers.
Strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of the sterile field.
Physical stamina and proper lifting techniques.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a hospital environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare operating rooms by cleaning, procuring equipment, and opening sterile supplies.
Provide transportation and needed assistance with patient care.
Assist surgical technologists and nurses with assigned duties.
Work as a member of the surgical team alongside surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, surgical technologists, and other surgical personnel.
