About The Position

IU Health Fishers Hospital, located off I-69 (exit 210) adjacent to Hamilton Town Center, is a key healthcare provider in the Fishers community. The facility features six operating rooms specializing in General Surgery, Gynecology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Pain Management, Plastics, Podiatry, and Urology. The hospital is seeking individuals who are driven to excel in a collaborative environment focused on providing exceptional patient care. Operating Room Assistants are integral to the surgical team, supporting them before, during, and after surgery. This role involves preparing the operating room, procuring equipment, opening sterile supplies, transporting patients, assisting with patient care, and supporting Surgical Techs and Nurses with various assigned duties. The assistant works closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, surgical technologists, and other surgical personnel at IU Saxony Hospital, where the focus is on innovation and compassionate community healthcare.

Requirements

Requires a High School Diploma/GED
AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required
Requires strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field
Requires physical stamina and proper lifting techniques

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a hospital environment preferred

Responsibilities

Support the surgical team before, during and after surgery
Assist with operating room preparation by cleaning, procuring equipment and opening sterile supplies
Provide transportation and needed assistance with patient care
Assist Surgical Techs and Nurses with various assigned duties
