About The Position

IU Health Fishers Hospital, located off I-69 (exit 210) adjacent to Hamilton Town Center, is a cornerstone of the thriving Fishers community. The facility features six cutting-edge operating rooms specializing in General Surgery, Gynecology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Pain Management, Plastics, Podiatry, and Urology. Operating Room Assistants support the surgical team before, during, and after surgery. This role involves assisting with operating room preparation by cleaning, procuring equipment, and opening sterile supplies. They also provide transportation and necessary assistance with patient care, and assist Surgical Techs and Nurses with various assigned duties. Operating Room Assistants work as a member of the surgical team alongside surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, surgical technologists, and other surgical personnel. Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma/GED
  • AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required
  • Requires strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field
  • Requires physical stamina and proper lifting techniques

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a hospital environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support the surgical team before, during and after surgery
  • Assist with operating room preparation by cleaning, procuring equipment and opening sterile supplies
