About The Position

The Endoscopy Unit provides total gastrointestinal care. Ninety percent of the patients are outpatient, and the remaining ten percent are inpatients or transfers from another facility. There are approximately 20,000 cases performed in the unit annually. Responsible for ensuring excellent patient care, maintaining safety standards, and providing medical assistance in the operating room. Promotes a philosophy of patient/family focused care through cordial greeting and interactions with patient, families and hospital personnel. Provides hospital/unit orientation information for guest, patients and families. Demonstrates an awareness of hospital systems and procedures, location of all departments, procedure areas and other patient services. Refers patients, families and others to appropriate resources.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Medical Office/Hospital/Managed Care Experience 0-1 year required
Must be able to comprehend written directions for mixing cleaning supplies and ordering supplies.
Must be aware of proper body mechanics when assisting in patient transfer and lifting of heavy objects.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with other health care members.
Ability to work collaboratively with the surgical team.
Must constantly be alert and attentive to progress of O.R. schedule to meet tight deadlines.

Nice To Haves

Operating Room Experience 0-1 year preferred

Responsibilities

Independently transports and assists in the transfer of patients.
Properly identifies patients utilizing 2 approved identifiers.
Ensures safety and support measures in patient transfer ( i.e. bedrails raised, patient covered with blanket and warm).
Is aware of special precautions in transferring patients with precautions.
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all policies and standards
