About The Position

The Perioperative Care Associate II (PCA II) is a member of a multidisciplinary team responsible for maintaining the physical environment of the operating room and procedural areas, including the cath lab, EP, and IR, to high standards of cleanliness, appearance, and infection control. Under direction, the PCA II assists surgical and invasive procedural staff and the Surgery/Procedure Admissions Unit (SPAU) staff with preparatory aspects of patient care. The role also includes patient transportation, room cleaning and turnover, supply stocking, and general environmental care.

The PCA II demonstrates proficiency in basic and advanced cleaning techniques and competence in the safe use of chemicals, equipment, cleaning methods, and infection-control practices needed to meet departmental quality standards. The position includes safe handling and removal of hazardous, regulated, infectious, recyclable, and regular waste; assisting the core facilitator with case carts and preparation of positioning devices and equipment; and supporting quality-improvement processes. The PCA II works under the guidance of the Lead Core Tech and the Surgical Supervisor/Nurse Manager and participates collaboratively on an interdisciplinary team in support of the mission, vision, and values of Surgical Services and Swedish Medical Center.

Requirements

• Upon hire, hold National Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Have 1 year of experience performing duties of a Perioperative Care Associate I or equivalent experience in a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities
