Operating Room Assistant - Surgery (0.9 FTE, day shift)
About The Position
Performs unit support tasks as assigned, including cleaning of surgical suites, and the general environment. Assist RN and surgical technologist in preparing the OR for surgical procedures, assist in turnover procedures, patient transport, transport lab specimens. Maintain adequate levels of non-implant related supplies in the OR. Routinely demonstrates both knowledge and skill in the safe use of chemicals, equipment, cleaning techniques and infection control methods necessary to maintain the departments established quality standards. Demonstrates ability to speak, write, and understand English. Demonstrates competence in the safe handling and removal of medical and hazardous waste.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Three years of materials handling/supply experience with knowledge of supply management methodologists (FIFO).
- Knowledge of surgical terminology, products, and procedures.
- Ability to speak, write, and understand English.
Nice To Haves
- Surgical background or familiarity with the supplies and instruments used in the operating room environment.
- Institutional cleaning experience.
