About The Position

As a Building Engineer at JLL, you will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless operation of complex building systems and infrastructure. This position is responsible for the electrical installation, repair, and maintenance of equipment and controls, as well as plumbing installation and maintenance of piping systems located throughout the interior and exterior of the building. You will install, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical operating equipment and machinery while conducting routine assessments to ensure optimal building system performance. Your expertise will directly contribute to JLL's commitment to delivering safe, efficient, and high-performing facilities for our clients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or state equivalent; minimum of two years of related trade schooling or two years of college education.
  • Minimum four years of experience in the electrician trade or related field, OR minimum four years of experience in HVAC/refrigeration trade or related field, OR minimum four years of experience with emergency backup systems (generators, UPS, etc.).
  • Skilled in the use of tools and machinery required for mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and local building codes.
  • Ability to visually inspect machinery and buildings, frequently walk up and down stairs, climb ladders up to 40 feet, and lift 60 lbs repeatedly.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor the operation of refrigeration, heat exchangers, HVAC, electrical systems, emergency backup systems, and hot water systems; make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal performance and record readings to ensure proper equipment operation.
  • Analyze system operations, diagnose problems and malfunctions, and take immediate corrective action to minimize disruption to building operations.
  • Perform comprehensive preventive maintenance on all base building and critical system equipment, including assembling tools and supplies, completing preventive task sheets, conducting immediate clean-up of work areas, and reporting supply shortages or equipment problems to the Operations Manager or Lead Engineer.
  • Install and repair plumbing, piping, tubing, and electrical components; wire single and three-phase motors; run conduit; pull wiring to machinery and motors; install and rebuild pumps, motors, air compressors, and heat exchangers; and replace bearings, seals, and filters as needed.
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical controls, switching, and motor controls while monitoring refrigeration, water cooling, air conditioning equipment, boilers, heating systems, pumps, valves, and other mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Maintain tools, order necessary supplies, keep accurate logs, document equipment repairs, close work orders, track time accurately in reports, and provide timely communication with the Operations Manager and Lead Engineer.
  • Comply with departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials while maintaining a clean and safe workspace; perform additional duties such as painting, carpentry, and medical equipment repair under specific infection control conditions as assigned.
