At Mott MacDonald, we’re looking for an experienced OpenRoads Designer to join our growing transportation team and help deliver practical, high-quality solutions for roadway and civil infrastructure projects. In this role, you’ll use your technical expertise to develop detailed designs and 3D models, working closely with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to support projects from design through delivery. Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Bentley OpenRoads Designer in roadway or civil infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of roadway geometry, grading, and drainage design principles.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation and familiarity with DOT standards and CAD workflows.
  • Ability to interpret survey data, utility information, and geotechnical reports.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality deliverables.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, project managers, and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed roadway and civil site designs using Bentley OpenRoads Designer for DOT, municipal, and private sector projects.
  • Prepare 3D corridor models, grading plans, and cross-sections that integrate seamlessly with survey and GIS data.
  • Collaborate with engineers to refine alignments, profiles, and drainage solutions for optimal constructability.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs meet project specifications, budgets, and timelines.
  • Support the preparation of plan sets, quantity take-offs, and digital deliverables for construction bidding.
  • Troubleshoot design challenges and propose innovative, cost-effective solutions.
