Open‑Source Intelligence (OSINT) Instructor

Swift•Northern Virginia, VA

About The Position

Swift is seeking a knowledgeable and engaging Open‑Source Intelligence (OSINT) Instructor to deliver a focused 4‑hour instructional block within our training program. This part‑time, 1099 contractor role is ideal for an individual with practical OSINT experience who can clearly demonstrate how publicly available information and unsecured social media accounts can unintentionally compromise individuals and their families. The instructor will explain how adversaries and other actors can leverage open‑source methods to collect sensitive personal information, as well as how students can safeguard their digital presence. The session will include real‑world examples, demonstrations of common OSINT tools, and, when appropriate and with consent, a basic, non‑sensitive OSINT walk‑through of a volunteer’s online footprint.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated professional experience with Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT), digital footprint analysis, online investigations, or a related discipline.
  • Prior experience delivering technical, operational, intelligence, or protective-security training.
  • Ability to explain OSINT concepts in a clear and practical way for diverse audiences.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Familiarity with commonly used OSINT platforms, tools, and collection methodologies.
  • Ability to responsibly demonstrate OSINT techniques while maintaining ethical, legal, and privacy considerations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to the audience’s experience level and course learning goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing training in operational security (OPSEC), digital hygiene, or protective intelligence.
  • Familiarity with real-world case studies illustrating the risks of unsecured online activity.
  • Active security clearance (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a 4-hour OSINT training block to students with varying levels of technical and operational background.
  • Explain how publicly available information, digital behavior, and unsecured social media accounts can expose sensitive details about individuals and their families.
  • Demonstrate how adversaries or unknown actors may use OSINT techniques to research routines, locations, relationships, and daily activities.
  • Provide real-world examples illustrating risks associated with unsecured online presence.
  • Introduce and demonstrate commonly used OSINT tools for responsible, legally compliant research and analysis.
  • Deliver instruction in a clear, accessible manner suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support course objectives by reinforcing key digital security and risk-mitigation principles.
