About The Position

The Laboratory of Virus Host Dialogue (Viralogue lab: https://www.viralogue.com/) in the Department of Immunology and Microbiology is seeking to hire a senior laboratory science professional. The position will report directly to the PI (Sidd Krishnamurthy) involve both maintaining and creating laboratory infrastructure and and has reserved time (approximately 50%25) to contribute to other aspects of the lab’s research, such as innovating new tools/techniques, completing projects or conducting experiments in collaboration with other members in the group. The research component can be structured flexibly to match the chosen candidate’s background, interests, and skills. This would be an excellent position for someone who enjoys working in a lab, conducting experiments, and has a strong interest in a longer-term position. People who have prior experience handling mice are preferred. The mission of the Viralogue lab is to leverage the interplay between viral elements and the enteric environment to better human health. To do this, we use mouse models, integrating techniques from mucosal immunology, molecular virology and computational genetics to understand 1) how the endogenous virome of the intestine influences exogenous viral infection, 2) how intestinal viruses evade antiviral strategies and 3) how subversion of intestinal defenses changes the host tropism potential of individual viruses. Candidates will have the opportunity to learn and innovate with a diversity of techniques, in both leading and supporting projects. Why Join Us: The Viralogue lab is a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary laboratory that believes that combining different perspectives on the question of intestinal antiviral immunity can evolve new breakthroughs. People who are excited in working in a diverse, collaborative, team science environment, with a large opportunity to grow as a scientist, collaborator and community member should apply. The Department of Immunology and Microbiology encompasses a broad range of research and teaching activities focused on basic mechanisms of host immune responses, viral and bacterial pathogenesis, and the intersection of these two fields. Working in the Department of Immunology and Microbiology offers the opportunity of professional growth in a vibrant academic and scientific environment.
