About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Health Services Researcher to join our dynamic and growing team within the MUSC Department of Surgery. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of extramural funding, play a pivotal role working with PhD investigators and surgeon scientists to advance evidence-based practices, and improve healthcare delivery through the application of health services and outcomes analytic principles. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and lead or co-lead innovative research and clinical initiatives.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D., or equivalent) in implementation science, health services research, public health, or a related field with track record of achieving federal funding
  • Knowledge and experience using health services research methodologies (quantitative and qualitative) applicable to healthcare
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and across organizational boundaries
  • Flexibility to thrive in a dynamic academic environment with competing priorities and deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Identify funding opportunities and secure grants from federal agencies, foundations, and industry sponsors to support healthcare science research in surgery
  • Develop and co-develop proposals, protocols, and grant applications focused on patient outcomes, quality initiatives, and health services implementation
  • Mentor students, residents, and junior faculty in research methodology, grant writing, and scholarly activities related to health services practices
  • Disseminate findings via abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations
  • Develop and deliver curriculum in health services research for surgical trainees, residents, and fellows
  • Provide consultation to surgeons and healthcare providers on strategies for sustainability of healthcare innovations
  • Establish collaborations with other departments, institutions, and industry partners to promote interdisciplinary research and clinical initiatives
  • Participate in departmental and institutional committees focused on quality improvement and patient outcomes
  • Contribute to the academic reputation and strategic goals of the department and institution
