The Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of New Mexico is seeking a Family Medicine physician with fellowship training in surgical obstetrics to join their faculty. This Clinician Educator role centers on Maternal Child Health and primary care within a mission-driven, community-focused department. The successful candidate will serve as an attending physician on the Family Medicine Maternal and Child Health (MCH) service, provide inpatient addiction consultation for pregnant patients with substance use disorders, have an outpatient primary care panel, and participate in newborn care at the University Hospital’s level I nursery, with potential involvement in the level II intermediate care nursery. Teaching is a core component of this position, including supervision and instruction of Family Medicine residents, MCH fellows, UNM medical students, and residents in Pediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynecology. The department has a strong emphasis on community-based care, with established partnerships supporting rural family medicine practices, offering a rich environment for collaborative clinical care and training. Robust research opportunities are also available for faculty interested in scholarly work. The department's vision is to enhance the well-being and healthcare of individuals, families, and communities in New Mexico through the integration of and advocacy for the principles of Public Health and Family and Community Medicine.
