The Department of Biomedical Informatics (DBMI) at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking faculty members to strengthen its presence in artificial intelligence (AI). This is an open search, and multiple hires are anticipated. Successful applicants will possess expertise in AI and machine learning, leading independent research programs that develop and apply computational approaches with the potential to achieve measurable benefits to health care. Hiring is organized around two areas: 1) methods of AI, and 2) broader areas of biomedical informatics impacting clinical focus areas. For AI methods, candidates with expertise in building methods that learn across imaging, waveform, video, language, structured electronic health records, and biological data are sought. Translational potential should be apparent, though demonstrated impact on clinical focus areas is not required at recruitment. For broader biomedical informatics, work should show demonstrable impact in one or more clinical focus areas: Cancer, Neuroscience, Cardiovascular health, Musculoskeletal health and orthopedics, or Transplant. The DBMI and CU Anschutz campus offer a strong environment for development and translation through connections to health systems (Children’s Hospital Colorado, UCHealth, Colorado VA), the University of Colorado Cancer Center, Colorado Center for Personalized Medicine, and the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute. The ideal candidate will lead studies closing the loop from lab to clinical care, mentor trainees, and contribute to campus resources.
