About The Position

The Department of Orthopedics at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking a fellowship-trained Orthopedic Oncologist/Surgeon and Researcher to perform clinical services, research, and education duties in the Orthopedic Oncology Section. This role involves affiliation with the University of Colorado Cancer Center, an NCI Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. The position requires establishing a successful clinical practice in orthopedic/musculoskeletal oncology, developing a competitive research program as an independent investigator, and contributing to the training and mentoring of residents, fellows, and scientists. The position is located on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO, a campus with state-of-the-art facilities and direct access to transportation. Research will be conducted in research facilities, and clinical work will take place at outpatient and hospital facilities on the Anschutz Campus and other University of Colorado Health facilities in the Denver area.

Requirements

Completion of at least a one-year Orthopedic Oncology Fellowship
Board certified/eligible as an orthopedic surgeon (Assistant Professor)
Board certified as an orthopedic surgeon (Associate Professor)
Evidence of previous research productivity (Assistant Professor)
Completion of a 5-year residency in Orthopedic Surgery
Track record of high impact publications (Associate Professor)
Evidence of previous research grant submissions (Associate Professor)

Responsibilities

Function as an Orthopedic Clinician in Musculoskeletal Oncology, aiming to develop a successful clinical practice and nationally recognized research program.
Develop and nurture a clinical practice emphasizing medical and surgical treatment of musculoskeletal tumors.
Maximize quality of clinical care by employing established departmental data capture protocols and developing quality improvement measures.
Collaborate with the Department of Orthopedics and Musculoskeletal Oncology Section to achieve synergy with other sections and clinical departments.
Develop, conduct, lead, and present original research in accordance with the Department of Orthopedics’ research mission.
Present research findings in local, national, and international venues and publish findings in peer-reviewed literature.
Participate in the education of medical students, graduate students, orthopedic residents, clinical fellows, and postdoctoral trainees.
Contribute to fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability within the Department of Orthopedics, CPMR, CU Sarcoma Program, Metastatic Bone Disease Program, and the Cancer Center.
