About The Position

The Department of Pharmacology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking applicants for tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level in Neuroscience. The research should focus on molecular, cellular, or circuit mechanisms related to understanding the nervous system or associated diseases, drug actions, or the development of new therapies for neurological, neurodevelopmental, or neuropsychiatric disorders. Preference will be given to applicants whose research complements existing strengths in neuropharmacology, including the regulation of neuronal circuits, synaptic plasticity, neurotransmitter receptors, ion channels, cell adhesion molecules, signal transduction, glia, and gene expression in neuronal function related to learning and memory, neurodegeneration, addiction, ischemic brain injury, intellectual disability, schizophrenia, and autism.

Requirements

  • PhD and/or MD degree
  • Appropriate and sufficient post-doctoral experience to establish an independent research program competitively funded by extramural grant support (for Assistant Professor)
  • Track record of publications in neuroscience (for Assistant Professor)
  • Track record of competitively funded by extramural grant support sufficient to maintain an independent research program (for Associate Professor)
  • Track record of senior, corresponding author publications in neuroscience (for Associate Professor)
  • Record of mentoring PhD students and/or postdoctoral fellows (for Associate Professor)
  • Experience in teaching and participating in graduate education (for Associate Professor)
  • Ability to maintain research program in neuroscience/neuropharmacology
  • Ability to participate in graduate education in Pharmacology and/or Neuroscience Graduate Program
  • Ability to train, supervise, and mentor PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, and other junior team members
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both to colleagues and to the general public.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Ability to independently and collaboratively drive research projects to completion.
  • Ability to assemble, revise, and successfully publish scientific manuscripts.
  • Ability to present scientific findings at meetings and conferences.
  • Ability to design and write funding applications.

Responsibilities

  • Possess a strong dedication to neuroscience research in the candidate’s respective field
  • Engage in research at a high level that will result in establishing and/or maintaining an independent research program
  • Obtain or continue to maintain competitively funded extramural grant support
  • Be academically productive and maintain a high level of publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Participate as a research mentor for graduate students in the CU Pharmacology Graduate Program and/or CU Neuroscience Graduate Program
  • Participate in didactic education in courses offered by the CU Pharmacology Graduate Program and/or CU Neuroscience Graduate Program
