About The Position

This role is attached to the Coffee Operating Unit. The Sanitation Operator is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting equipment, facilities, and production areas to maintain an environment that complies with food safety, quality, and occupational health and safety requirements. This is a Permanent, Unionized Role with a shift from Sunday to Friday, 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM. The position requires working in a food manufacturing environment, at heights on aerial work platforms and lift platforms, as well as in confined spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times. Employees will be exposed to water, cleaning products, and temperature fluctuations. The role involves handling equipment and frequent movement throughout the plant.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (DES) or relevant experience in a manufacturing environment (asset).
  • Experience in industrial sanitation or in a food environment (asset).
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), hygiene rules, and WHMIS.
  • Ability to work safely with chemicals.
  • Ability to work at heights using aerial work platforms and lift platforms.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Good team spirit and communication skills.
  • Organizational and observational skills.
  • Rigor, autonomy, and reliability.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to food safety and health and safety.
  • French and English language (written and spoken) are required.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and disinfect production lines, equipment, utensils, and production areas in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepare sanitation carts in accordance with current standards.
  • Follow cleaning procedures (SOPs) and measures to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Perform tasks according to the sanitation schedule and established deadlines.
  • Strictly enforce health and safety requirements, including lockout procedures, the safe use of compressed air, and the marking of work areas.
  • Prepare, handle, and use chemicals in accordance with work instructions and safety data sheets (SDS).
  • Keep chemical storage rooms clean, organized, and safe.
  • Verify that equipment is clean before returning it to production.
  • Safely use cleaning equipment (industrial vacuums, hoses, pressure washers, etc.).
  • Perform the periodic tasks outlined in the sanitation program.
  • Accurately complete the required documentation and ensure data is recorded in the applicable systems.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or risks that could compromise food safety, quality, or health and safety, and follow the appropriate chain of command.
  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), hygiene rules, WHMIS principles, and standards for maintaining order and cleanliness (5S).
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities as well as internal and external audits.
