About The Position

Our Power & Energy Solutions group is seeking a skilled Plant Operator to join our Power Operations team, based at the Becancour Power Station located in Becancour, QC. Plant Operators provide operational support to plant operations, including the application of mechanical and technical skills. Reporting to the Becancour Operations Manager, this position is primarily responsible for supporting the team by filling in on shifts as needed to provide multi-disciplinary operational support to ensure the safe and reliable operations of the cogeneration plant.

Requirements

• Certificate in Stationary Machine Mechanics, class 2
• 3 years’ experience with maintenance and operations of gas turbines, steam production and related hardware
• Proven knowledge of the maintenance tasks of electrical power plants and steam power plants
• Demonstrated ability to use manual and electric tools
• Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
• Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
• Be part of an on-call rotation and provide emergency support as required

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance of all plant safety, environment and health programs and procedures
• Continually checks all phases of operation for irregularities and adverse trends and take corrective action
• Support shift operations to maximize energy production
• Troubleshooting operations problems and initiate maintenance requests
• Perform routine corrective and preventive maintenance tasks
• Run daily tests and analyze results and reports of the water and steam control system and to initiate preventive measures
• Participate in preparing operations and maintenance procedures
• Participate in major mitigation projects
• Performs other duties as required
