Nutrition Support Services (NSS) is responsible to support the District’s academic community by providing nutritious and appealing meals with excellent customer service, in a safe and clean environment to every student each school day. All meals comply with nutrition standards set forth in the USDA’s Child Nutrition Program meal patterns. Job Summary: The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP) regulations require each school food authority (SFA), with more than one site where reimbursable meals are served, to annually conduct their own review of each site’s meal count and claiming procedures. As part of these federal and state regulations, the District requires a dedicated team of Onsite Reviewers to conduct reviews at all CPS schools throughout the district. On-site reviews ensure that at each meal service, the following internal controls are operating correctly: • Daily meal counts are accurately taken at the point of service • All meals claimed meet meal pattern requirements • Overt identification is prevented • Sanitation procedures are followed This part-time/temporary position will be compensated for time worked on an hourly basis. The work schedule for this role will consist of an estimated 30 hours per week for an anticipated period of 5 months beginning October 12, 2026 and ending February 26, 2027. Due to the part-time/temporary nature of this work, this is not a benefit-eligible position. This role will report to the Program Manager, NSS.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent is required
Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience
Excellent planning, organizational, time management and problem solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to learn quickly, work independently and follow through to completion of work assignments with limited direction and oversight
Basic computer knowledge, including Google suite and Apple IOS
Knowledge of USDA School Nutrition Programs regulations and compliance reviews
Must be residents of Illinois

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred
Previous experience in food services is preferred

Responsibilities

Successful completion of required classroom and school site training
Conduct observation and evaluation of school meal services as assigned
Accurate submission of reviews at all assigned school sites
Interaction with food service directors, school administration and school dining personnel regarding process and findings to ensure adherence to regulations and procedures and cooperation to resolve finding
Report findings, provide corrective actions and conduct required follow up reviews
Other duties as assigned
