About The Position

Linguava is seeking driven and committed language specialists to provide on-site interpretation and sight translation services. As an independent contractor interpreter, you will serve Linguava's clients, patients, and their families, ensuring effective communication during various medical interactions. This role is crucial to our mission of being a leader in the language services industry, recognized for our rapid growth.

Requirements

Certified or Qualified Healthcare Interpreter through the State Of Oregon (OHA) (Linguava assists eligible candidates with this process).
Must be located in Eugene/Springfield or surrounding areas.
Demonstrate native or near-native fluency in both English and Cantonese.
Pass Linguava’s Language Evaluation and skills test.
Reliable transportation (daily travel required).
Excellent listening, communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Nice To Haves

Medical field experience preferred.
Experience using bilingual skills in a professional or medical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide on-site interpretation services for individuals and/or families who do not speak English at predetermined locations for in-person medical appointments.
Interpret during hospital admissions, discharges, clinical visits (including specialty clinics), outpatient surgeries (pre-op and post-op), outpatient diagnostics, school interactions, and emergency room visits.
Perform on-demand sight translation services.
Adhere to all Linguava and client protocols as outlined in the Linguava employee handbook and national standards of practice.
Educate patients, families, and providers on the interpreter's role.
Check in and out of appointments punctually and remain for the full scheduled duration.
Manage an organized schedule to avoid missed or double-booked appointments.
