About The Position

Linguava is seeking driven and committed language specialists to provide on-site interpretation and on-demand sight translation services for clients, patients, and family members. As a leading Language Service Provider, Linguava values its independent contract interpreters as a crucial part of the company's success. This role involves interpreting for individuals and families who do not speak English during in-person medical appointments, including hospital admissions, discharges, various clinical visits, and emergency room situations. Adherence to Linguava and client protocols, as outlined in the employee handbook and national standards of practice, is essential. This includes educating patients, families, and providers about the interpreter's role, managing appointment check-ins and check-outs, and maintaining an organized schedule to prevent missed or double-booked appointments.

Requirements

Certified or Qualified Healthcare Interpreter through the State Of Oregon (OHA) (Linguava assists eligible candidates with this process).
Located in Eugene/Springfield or surrounding areas.
Native or near-native fluency in both English and Mandarin.
Pass Linguava’s Language Evaluation and skills test.
Reliable transportation (daily travel required).
Excellent listening, communication, organizational and customer service skills.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Nice To Haves

Medical field experience preferred.
Use of bilingual skills in a professional or medical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide on-site interpretation services for medical appointments.
Perform on-demand sight translation services.
Interpret during hospital admissions and discharges.
Interpret during clinical visits, including specialty clinics, outpatient surgeries, and diagnostics.
Interpret during emergency room visits.
Educate patients, families, and providers on the interpreter's role.
Check in and out of appointments on time.
Stay for the full scheduled duration of appointments.
Manage an organized schedule and ensure no appointments are missed or double booked.
