About The Position

We are now looking to recruit an Online Tutor: User Experience Design (UX Research) to join our team in the Games Academy. You will be instrumental in guiding the next generation of UX innovators and thought leaders worldwide. As an Online Tutor for our MA User Experience Research module, part of the esteemed Games Academy, your responsibilities will include linking academic principles to practical scenarios. Your insights and expertise will be invaluable in equipping students with the essential tools in the field of human-computer interaction. While demanding in its responsibilities, this role is highly flexible and offers a chance to contribute meaningfully to an institution striving for excellence in UX. Online Tutors are vital to the success and vibrancy of our online courses. They are a constant presence in the module, the first point of contact for students’ academic enquiries and supporting their learning activities. As the Online Tutor you will deliver live sessions such as webinars, workshops or tutorials each week to a cohort of students. Around these live sessions you will be responsible for topic discussions, and academic guidance via emails, one to ones and an online learning space. You will work closely with the course leader and module leaders to ensure best possible student experience. The hours for this role are flexible and spread throughout the week as agreed by your line manager. The flexibility of this role means that you can fit the hours around existing responsibilities. The role compliments individuals who have freelance careers or other teaching commitments. Each online tutor is responsible for no more than 30 students, making this an extremely rewarding role. The Online Tutor for this module will be allocated 160 hours to support up to 30 students with learning, assessment and feedback, working September 2026 to January 2027.

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level, or having equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience in working with groups of students from diverse backgrounds at HE level.
  • Evidence of professional visual arts practice.
  • Demonstrable engagement with, and interest in, the dialogues, debates and concepts surrounding contemporary arts and culture.
  • Well organised.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Commitment to deliver an excellent online learning experience for students.
  • Experience and understanding of online education methods.
  • Good professional ties within the UX industry and or Higher Education.
  • Experience mentoring or teaching at a university or a similar level.
  • Proficiency in digital tools.
  • High standard of communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Effective presentation abilities.
  • Must be based within the UK.
  • Must be able to start in September 2026.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience teaching online would also be an advantage.
