About The Position

Vermont State University Online seeks an adjunct instructor to teach a 3-credit Education course during the Fall 2026 semester between 8/24/2026-10/11/2026. This online course will be taught 100% online using Canvas, and has been fully developed in Canvas, including all content, assignments, assessments, and required materials. The instructor will not be responsible for designing or building the course shell. Requirements

• Master's degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of five years of experience teaching fully online, asynchronous courses.
• Demonstrated familiarity with adult learning theory.
• Working understanding of relevant Vermont licensure standards.
• Ability to support students in meeting licensure expectations through course activities and assessments.

• Experience with Canvas.

Responsibilities

• Facilitating the existing Canvas course rather than creating new content.
• Actively engaging with students.
• Responding substantively to each student’s weekly discussion board posts.
• Providing timely and substantive feedback.
• Grading.
• Holding virtual office hours as needed.
• Maintaining a supportive online learning environment.
• Adhering to the VTSU Online Standards that address instructor presence, student engagement, instructor expectations, and assessment of student work.

Benefits

• Compensation is dependent upon online teaching experience (within and outside of the Vermont State Colleges System) and bargaining unit status; the starting range is between $1000-1250 per credit.
