About The Position

Cancer Specialists of North Florida (CSNF) is seeking an Oncology Registered Nurse for their Beaches Office. CSNF is the largest physician-owned private practice oncology group in Jacksonville, known for exceptional patient care and work-life balance. This full-time position offers a generous sign-on bonus and involves providing care to patients with hematologic malignancies and oncologic diagnoses, including medical and radiation oncology. The role requires adherence to standard policies and procedures, patient and family education, administration of chemotherapy and other medications, monitoring patient status, performing assessments, and executing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The nurse will also be involved in telephone triage, documentation, acting as a resource, maintaining safety and infection control standards, and potentially providing coverage to other clinics. Mentoring less experienced staff and maintaining patient confidentiality are also key aspects of the role.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education
  • Minimum of three (3) years nursing experience
  • RN Florida State license.
  • Basic life support (BLS) certificate.
  • ONS (or equivalent) Chemotherapy and Biotherapy course or ONS Radiation certification required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Follows standard policies and procedures to carry out medical orders.
  • Assess patient and family learning needs, physical and mental abilities, and readiness to learn. Provides teaching and other instructional material. Demonstrates awareness of community resources available to patients and assists with referrals if necessary.
  • Administers chemotherapy, biotherapy, hydration, hematopoietic growth factors and other medications under the direction and supervision of a physician.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and communicates laboratory data, imaging, and other tests for determination of changes in patients’ status. Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician.
  • Performs assessment of patients in the areas of biophysical needs, psychosocial needs, performance status score, self-care needs, educational, spiritual and emotional needs.
  • Demonstrates competency in the performance of simple and complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as venipunctures, care of vascular devices, and dressing changes.
  • Demonstrates competency in telephone triage, including the ability to assess the problem and plan the appropriate patient intervention. Completes Tasks in ONCO EMR system in a timely manner.
  • Documents nursing assessments, patient teaching and fluid and medication administration in the patient chart.
  • Acts as a resource person to medical assistants and other staff.
  • Adheres to safety and quality control measures such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration, infection control, and sterilization criteria.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment.
  • Provides nursing coverage to other CSNF clinics as needed.
  • Mentors and serves as a preceptor for less experienced staff as needed.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • All other duties as assigned.
