About The Position

The Oncology Nurse provides professional nursing care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. This is a Weekend Premium Role. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation to determine the diagnosis or issues. The nurse performs primary and secondary patient assessments and documents them accurately and timely. They also document changes and omissions of the identified plan, and communicate systematic reports to other care providers. The role coordinates care delivery and utilizes resources to promote the continuum of care. Demonstrates knowledge and skill in all aspects of IV therapy and hydration. Employs strategies to promote health in a safe environment. Evaluates and documents progress toward the attainment of outcomes. Identifies expected interventions and outcomes for an individualized plan of care and communicates effectively with patient, family and other team members. Implements the plan of care in a safe, timely and appropriate manner. Manages patient care based on knowledge of cancer, cancer treatment, and side effects of such treatment. Uses quality and evidence-based practice to deliver and improve care. Works closely with more experienced clinicians for guidance and supervision. In Infusion/Treatment Departments, demonstrates knowledge and skills in chemotherapy/biotherapy and blood products. In Radiation Oncology Departments, demonstrates knowledge of radiation therapies and procedures, including side effect and symptom management. Demonstrates ability to triage patients and coordinate with providers to ensure care needs are met. Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department. Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Associate Degree Nursing
  • Must complete BSN within 5 years of hire
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Multi-State - State Board of Nursing
  • Must have current active multistate state Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in state in which you live.
  • Staff hired prior to 2/1/2024 are required to obtain a multistate state RN license from the state in which they live at the time of their next RN license renewal by 4/30/2026.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor Degree Nursing
  • 1 or more years med surg/acute care
  • 1 or more years oncology experience
  • Chemo Certification - Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Certification preferred for Infusion/Treatment departments
