The Registered Nurse - Oncology Infusion will safely and accurately mix and administer chemotherapeutic agents to patients as ordered by Company physicians, following ONS standards and guidelines. This role involves the accurate and safe disposal of biohazardous waste per OSHA and HRS guidelines, and ongoing patient assessment. Documentation in OncoEMR of treatment rendered, ensuring appropriate charges are captured, and adherence to the Company’s I.D. policy and procedure with every patient encounter are critical. The nurse will also act as a moderator/instructor for chemotherapy classes, educate patients and families about medications, side effects, and treatment plans, and interact with patients and families in a caring, professional manner. Responsibilities include telephone triage, prioritizing calls and messages, and responding appropriately. Additionally, the role involves assisting with inventory and re-stocking medical supplies, recommending new items, and stocking supplies in storage areas. A working knowledge of dispensing medications via Nucleus, performing cycle counts, restocking medications, and entering patient charges into Nucleus is required. The nurse must attend annual Safety/OSHA training meetings and all mandatory staff meetings, maintaining patient and employee information confidentiality. They will also assist in training new employees and may be expected to work at any Company location to meet business needs. Compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy, patient’s rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law, as well as adherence to Company and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and the Disaster Plan, are mandatory.
