About The Position

The Oncology Infusion Manager provides leadership and oversight of infusion services for oncology and non-oncology patients, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, supportive infusions, and biologics. This role manages nursing operations in compliance with national standards, hazardous drug handling policies, and pharmacy partnerships, while focusing on patient access, infusion capacity, and nurse satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years infusion or oncology nursing experience
  • 2+ years leadership preferred
  • Strong clinical understanding of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and biologic therapies.
  • Advanced knowledge of EMR systems, barcode medication administration, and smart pumps.
  • Familiarity with regulatory bodies (ONS, INS, USP, The Joint Commission).
  • OCN, CRNI, or equivalent infusion-related certification
  • RN Required

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • Master’s in nursing or healthcare administration is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day infusion operations including nurse staffing, chair utilization, treatment schedules, and patient flow.
  • Direct supervision of infusion nurses, charge nurses, and medical assistants working in the infusion area.
  • Ensure compliance with USP <797>, <800>, ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Guidelines, and INS Standards of Practice.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy, oncology providers, and lab services to optimize pre-visit workflows (labs, authorizations, pre-med orders).
  • Implement safety protocols for hazardous drug handling, PPE usage, spill management, and chemotherapy verification.
  • Facilitate annual competency assessments for staff on venous access devices, infusion calculations, and emergency response.
  • Maintain infusion suite readiness for internal/external audits (The Joint Commission, state pharmacy boards).
  • Partner with scheduling teams to build and manage infusion templates aligned with drug prep times, acuity, and RN availability.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on treatment start time, dwell time, chair utilization, and error reduction.
  • Address infusion reactions, adverse events, and develop staff response pathways (e.g., anaphylaxis protocols).
