About The Position

The Clinical Dietitian II works independently and is responsible for identifying patients at nutritional risk, planning and implementing medical nutrition therapy for assigned populations. This role involves determining nutrition diagnoses, developing and implementing evidence-based nutrition care plans, monitoring patient progress, and communicating with the interdisciplinary care team. The Clinical Dietitian II also serves as a resource to Dietitians I.

Requirements

  • Masters (Required)
  • Dietitian/Nutritionist License (ND LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
  • Registered Dietitian CDR Certification (CDR) - Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • One (1) year of experience required.
  • Degree in Nutrition or a job related field.
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required for those individuals that are registered or have established eligibility for the registration examination for dietitians on or before December 31, 2023.
  • A minimum of a master’s degree is required for those seeking eligibility for the registration examination for dietitians for the first time, on or after January 1, 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Food Service department to provide nutritionally appropriate menus, food options, and services for patients.
  • Provides training to Dietitians I, interns and students on nutrition care strategies and support food service staff competency.
  • Serves as a preceptor, lecturer, or advisory board member for dietetic internship programs.
  • Provides leadership in resolving nutrition care issues, establishing priorities, developing and evaluating programs.
  • Serves as a resource to Dietitians I and reviews their documentation.
  • Develops and provides education, training, consulting, and counseling services throughout the organization and for the community.
  • Develops presentations and serves as subject matter expert in internal and external education programs and symposiums.
  • Participates, independently or with minimal guidance, in performance improvement (PI) activities and quality initiatives, and demonstrates readiness to offer outcomes-based solutions to opportunities.
  • Assesses patients’ nutritional status and needs.
  • Develops and implements care plans, monitors patients' progress, and updates interventions.
  • Completes thorough and timely documentation of patient sessions in the electronic health record.
  • Collaborates with physicians, nursing, pharmacy and other healthcare team members and departments to determine, coordinate, and provide medical nutrition therapy.
  • Communicates plans of care with patients and their families.
  • Participates in the development and revision of educational materials; provides recommendations to enhance learning activities and educational resources that elevate educational processes.
  • Performs nutrition focused physical examinations and collaborates with the physicians on malnutrition diagnoses.
