As a MineStar Onboard Engineer, you'll serve as the on-site technical expert supporting Cat® MineStar™ Command for Hauling, helping customers maximize the performance, reliability, and availability of autonomous mining equipment. You'll work at the intersection of mining, engineering, and cutting-edge autonomy technology, partnering with customer maintenance teams, Caterpillar engineers, and dealers to solve complex equipment challenges and drive continuous improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for Mechanical or Electrical Engineers who enjoy hands-on problem solving, troubleshooting advanced systems, analyzing equipment performance, and seeing the direct impact of their work in a large-scale mining operation. Requirements

Experience working with large mobile mining equipment, heavy machinery, autonomous systems, hydraulic systems, powertrain components, or machine controls.
Strong understanding of equipment troubleshooting, reliability engineering, root-cause analysis, and failure investigation.
Experience interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, maintenance data, and machine health information to resolve complex equipment issues.
Ability to work effectively in a mining or industrial environment while supporting cross-functional teams.
Experience evaluating equipment performance and implementing solutions that improve reliability, availability, and maintainability.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to translate technical issues into practical recommendations for customers, technicians, and engineering teams.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related discipline.
Familiarity with autonomous mining technologies, fleet management systems, or Cat MineStar solutions.

Responsibilities

Own onboard hardware health and fleet availability for MineStar Command-equipped autonomous haul trucks.
Analyze machine performance, equipment reliability, and failure trends to identify opportunities for increased uptime and productivity.
Support the integration of onboard mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and autonomous control systems.
Lead root-cause investigations for equipment and system issues, working closely with engineering, product support, dealer, and customer teams.
Interpret machine health data, fault codes, and operational trends to develop practical solutions and performance improvements.
Provide technical guidance to maintenance and operations personnel on equipment best practices and system optimization.
Present technical findings and recommendations to customer stakeholders, maintenance teams, and Caterpillar leadership.
Collaborate with Caterpillar engineering teams to validate product improvements and support field testing initiatives.
