About The Position

Mitchell Plastics is seeking an energetic and experienced On The Job Trainer (OJT) to support workforce development and operational excellence within their manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for delivering hands-on operator training, maintaining training systems and records, and ensuring employees are equipped with the skills needed to succeed safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, highly organized, and passionate about coaching and developing people in a fast-paced production setting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing or production experience
  • 1–2 years of leadership experience in a Cell Leader or similar role
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to deliver engaging, high-energy training sessions
  • Flexibility to support and train across multiple shifts
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and motivational abilities
  • Effective problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to present training materials to both small and large groups
  • Working knowledge of safety standards
  • Working knowledge of quality systems
  • Working knowledge of productivity expectations
  • Working knowledge of documentation and reporting processes
  • Working knowledge of 5S principles
  • Working knowledge of 4D and Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive team relationships

Responsibilities

  • Develop, organize, and manage offline fundamental skill training stations
  • Deliver hands-on training to machine operators for new hires, retraining, and cell transfers
  • Support training initiatives for new parts and program launches
  • Review and maintain offline, part-specific operation instructions and sign-off processes
  • Evaluate trainee competency and provide feedback to employees, Production, and HR teams
  • Assist in the development and improvement of work instructions and standardized processes
  • Maintain and manage the master training matrix and employee training records
  • Perform 4D Cell/Zone verification activities
  • Audit and oversee Operator Training Binders for accuracy and compliance
  • Support implementation activities related to new production programs and launches
  • Conduct training in accordance with approved training programs and standardized procedures
  • Utilize the Dojo Training Center to ensure consistent and effective skill development
  • Monitor and ensure timely completion of all required training activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Manager
  • Provide flexibility to support training needs across all operational shifts
