About The Position
The On-Site Specialist I provides hazardous and non-hazardous waste services at client facilities, meeting clients’ environmental needs in accordance with state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations. The role works under supervision and/or independently to complete scheduled customer projects safely and successfully. Duties may include packing, labeling, manifesting, and shipping waste according to contract parameters. The employee will receive training at multiple sites and may report to different work locations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a science-related discipline.
- OSHA 40-hour Hazwoper Certification.
- Commercial Driver’s License, Class A or B.
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency with project and time management.
- Knowledge of continuous process operations, chemical processing, and waste disposal.
- Computer proficiency with Google Office.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including close-range vision for reading, manual dexterity for paperwork and keyboard use, mobility and hearing to gather information and confer with others, and health permitting regular attendance and extended hours to meet deadlines.
Nice To Haves
- 2–4 years of industry-related work and customer service experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a professional image with clients, answer inquiries, and suggest solutions to existing and potential problems.
- Manage onsite customers’ hazardous and non-hazardous waste needs according to the contract.
- Comply with and enforce environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures.
- Complete accurate US DOT/EPA paperwork as required to expedite hazardous-waste disposal.
- Operate and maintain equipment safely to ensure efficient and effective completion of assigned projects.
- Understand contract terms and follow through on assignments.
- Travel to job sites within a 90-minute radius of Raleigh.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
