About The Position

Hope Cooperative is seeking a motivated individual with a passion for supporting others to join their team as an On-site Sober Living Homes (SLE) Monitor. This role involves working closely with residents in a Sober Living Home in Sacramento, CA, supporting their progress towards independent living while maintaining sobriety. The position offers rent-free on-site living and is a part-time role of 22 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Ability to work with individuals who have a Co-Occurring diagnosis.
  • Must have knowledge of 12-Step Programs and/or personal experience with substance abuse recovery.
  • If in recovery must have 8 months to 1 year of sobriety.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid certificates within the first six (6) months of employment.
  • Must attend Pro-Act training through the agency and obtain Pro-Act Certification within the first year of employment.
  • Ability to pass clearance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and/or Department of Justice (DOJ) background screenings.
  • Work overtime as requested and approved.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience is highly desirable.
  • Lived experience as a mental health consumer or a family member/loved one of a mental health consumer is desirable.
  • Mental health crisis intervention experience is highly desirable.
  • Having work experience with persons who have substance abuse problems, preferably individuals who are dually diagnosed (mental health & substance abuse) highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals with active listening, demonstration of empathy and carry a message of hope and recovery.
  • Observe, assess, intervene and refer (within one’s scope of practice) in situations with clients regarding mental health symptoms, physical health symptoms and substance use issues.
  • Make sure each resident is in by designated curfew time.
  • Conduct UA testing and breathalyzing when a resident shows signs of intoxication.
  • Provide positive public relations, community referrals, information and support by linking clients to needed resources.
  • Accurately complete all necessary forms, reports and paperwork required by the program on a timely basis (e.g., client intake paperwork, special incident reports, discharge summaries, billing tracking sheet).
  • Complete intakes and ROIs in a timely fashion.
  • Facilitate planning, preparation and implementation of house meetings to discuss house concerns and updates.
  • Make weekly house chores list and assign client tasks.
  • Shop for food and household supplies to meet program or client needs.
  • Ensure the office, house, rooms, units and yard are clean and fit for occupancy, where applicable. Provide and assist with cleaning as needed.
  • Act as a designated Mandated Reporter for the observed or suspected abuse and/or neglect of children, disabled individuals, dependent adults and elder/senior citizens. Mandated Reporter also includes “Duty to Warn” which includes the responsibility to notify authorities and the intended victim(s) of physical harm.
  • Ensure the protection and confidentiality of all Protected Health Information (PHI) by following all policies and procedures in the Agency HIPAA Manual.
