About The Position

The On Duty Supervisor is responsible for providing and directing fast, efficient Advanced Life Support to the ill and injured. This role involves directing, monitoring, communicating with, and evaluating all field employees in their assigned area. The supervisor acts as a liaison with patients, public safety agencies, training institutions, hospital personnel, and other system users. Key responsibilities include ensuring the maintenance of quality field operations through daily contact, oversight, communication, and evaluation, as well as ensuring the 100% reconciliation of PCRs and other field paperwork daily. The supervisor must also ensure that 100% of operational response exceptions are brought to closure with appropriate action. Additionally, they provide staff counseling and guidance regarding PEMS operations, promptly investigate incidents involving assigned units or personnel, and ensure the maintenance of adequate levels of staffing, equipment, and medical supplies for field units. The role requires implementing and enforcing company policies and standards, maintaining communication with other agencies and departments, and serving on committees to set policies and generate ideas. The supervisor will prepare reports and manage projects as assigned by the Operations Manager or Director of Operations, and maintain availability during disaster situations or mass casualty incidents. They are responsible for complying with all local, state, and federal employment laws and company policies, and for supervising, directing, and developing subordinates, including completing performance reviews and counseling sessions. The supervisor must adhere to all company policies and procedures, direct PEMS resources during mass casualty/disaster operations, and mentor employees, conduct performance evaluations, counsel, and provide disciplinary actions to assigned personnel to facilitate individual and team development. They will champion affirmative action efforts in all aspects of employment and ensure compliance with and enforcement of company/department policies and procedures. Related duties or tasks may be assigned, and the supervisor must follow the 5 daily directives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Must be Station Captain
  • Must possess and maintain unrestricted Paramedic Licensure / Certification
  • Must possess and maintain CPR for the Health Care Provider (AHA, ASHI, ECSI), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), unrestricted state driver’s license.
  • Certification in ICS 100 & 200; 300 & 400 preferred but not required; FEMA IS-800; NIMS 700.
  • Must have completed CEVO or EVOC
  • Proficient knowledge of the street systems, addresses and physical layout of the area, and of the rescue equipment and the emergency medical equipment used in Advanced Life Support.
  • Ability to perform technical medical skills with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to understand and effectively deals with emotional and medical needs of victims of injuries, acute illnesses, or psychological emergencies
  • Ability to maintain a professional and objective approach to the care of ill or injured persons
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provides and directs fast, efficient Advanced Life Support to the ill and injured.
  • Direct, monitor, communicate with and evaluate all field employees in his/her assigned area.
  • Liaison with patients, public safety agencies, training institutions, hospital personnel, and other system users.
  • Ensure maintenance of quality field operations through daily contact, oversight, communication, and evaluation.
  • Ensure PCR’s and other field paperwork is 100% reconciled daily in conjunction with the PCR processing.
  • Ensure 100% of operational response exceptions are brought to closure with appropriate action.
  • Provide staff counseling and guidance and information regarding PEMS operations.
  • Promptly investigates incidents involving assigned units or personnel, including, filing of internal and external reports, and counseling staff.
  • Ensure maintenance of adequate levels of staffing, equipment, and medical supplies for field units.
  • Implement and enforce company policies and standards.
  • Maintain communication with other agencies and departments.
  • Serve on committees with other departments to set policies and generate ideas.
  • Prepare reports and manages projects as assigned by Operations Manager or Director of Operations.
  • Maintain availability during disaster situations or mass casualty incidents and assist in any capacity needed.
  • Attend scheduled meetings as required by the Operation Manager.
  • Responsible for complying with all local, state, and federal employment laws and company policies. (i.e., Americans with Disability Act, Affirmative Action Plan, etc.)
  • Responsible for supervising, directing and developing subordinates, including completing performance reviews, counseling sessions, etc.
  • Responsible for adhering to all company policies and procedures.
  • Direct PEMS resources during mass casualty/disaster operations.
  • Mentor employees, conduct performance evaluations, counsel and provide disciplinary actions to assigned personnel, and works to facilitate individual and team development that drives positive results.
  • Champion affirmative action efforts in all aspects of employment, including but not limited to staffing, training, promotion, etc. Responsible for compliance with and enforcement of company/department policies and procedures.
  • May prepare employee evaluations and field crew contact reports.
  • Maintains strict compliance with all Pafford Policies & Procedures; all rules and regulations set forth by the state and federal programs;
  • May perform related duties or task as assigned.
  • Follow the 5 daily directives.
