About The Position

The On Duty Supervisor is responsible for providing and directing fast, efficient Advanced Life Support to the ill and injured. This role involves directing, monitoring, communicating with, and evaluating all field employees in the assigned area. The supervisor acts as a liaison with patients, public safety agencies, training institutions, hospital personnel, and other system users. Key responsibilities include ensuring the maintenance of quality field operations, reconciling paperwork daily, and bringing operational response exceptions to closure. The supervisor also provides staff counseling and guidance, investigates incidents, ensures adequate staffing and supplies, and implements company policies. They maintain communication with other agencies, serve on committees, prepare reports, and manage projects as assigned. During disaster situations or mass casualty incidents, the supervisor must maintain availability and assist as needed. They are responsible for complying with all employment laws and company policies, supervising and developing subordinates, and championing affirmative action efforts. The role may involve preparing employee evaluations and field crew contact reports, and maintaining strict compliance with all Pafford Policies & Procedures and state/federal regulations. Related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Must be Station Captain
  • Must possess and maintain unrestricted Paramedic Licensure / Certification
  • Must possess and maintain CPR for the Health Care Provider (AHA, ASHI, ECSI), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), unrestricted state driver’s license.
  • Certification in ICS 100 & 200; 300 & 400 preferred but not required; FEMA IS-800; NIMS 700.
  • Must have completed CEVO or EVOC
  • Proficient knowledge of the street systems, addresses and physical layout of the area, and of the rescue equipment and the emergency medical equipment used in Advanced Life Support.
  • Ability to perform technical medical skills with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to understand and effectively deals with emotional and medical needs of victims of injuries, acute illnesses, or psychological emergencies
  • Ability to maintain a professional and objective approach to the care of ill or injured persons
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 150 lbs.
  • Work may require sitting, near vision use for reading, computer use and technical procedures, lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, and other physical exertion.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly in person, on two-way radios and telephone.
  • Must possess visual acuity to operate a computer terminal, operate a motor vehicle (day and night), and read.

Responsibilities

  • Provides and directs fast, efficient Advanced Life Support to the ill and injured.
  • Directs, monitors, communicates with and evaluates all field employees in his/her assigned area.
  • Acts as a liaison with patients, public safety agencies, training institutions, hospital personnel, and other system users.
  • Ensures maintenance of quality field operations through daily contact, oversight, communication, and evaluation.
  • Ensures PCR’s and other field paperwork are 100% reconciled daily in conjunction with the PCR processing.
  • Ensures 100% of operational response exceptions are brought to closure with appropriate action.
  • Provides staff counseling and guidance and information regarding PEMS operations.
  • Promptly investigates incidents involving assigned units or personnel, including filing of internal and external reports, and counseling staff.
  • Ensures maintenance of adequate levels of staffing, equipment, and medical supplies for field units.
  • Implements and enforces company policies and standards.
  • Maintains communication with other agencies and departments.
  • Serves on committees with other departments to set policies and generate ideas.
  • Prepares reports and manages projects as assigned by Operations Manager or Director of Operations.
  • Maintains availability during disaster situations or mass casualty incidents and assists in any capacity needed.
  • Attends scheduled meetings as required by the Operation Manager.
  • Responsible for complying with all local, state, and federal employment laws and company policies.
  • Responsible for supervising, directing and developing subordinates, including completing performance reviews, counseling sessions, etc.
  • Responsible for adhering to all company policies and procedures.
  • Directs PEMS resources during mass casualty/disaster operations.
  • Mentors employees, conducts performance evaluations, counsels and provides disciplinary actions to assigned personnel, and works to facilitate individual and team development that drives positive results.
  • Champions affirmative action efforts in all aspects of employment, including but not limited to staffing, training, promotion, etc.
  • Responsible for compliance with and enforcement of company/department policies and procedures.
  • May prepare employee evaluations and field crew contact reports.
  • Maintains strict compliance with all Pafford Policies & Procedures; all rules and regulations set forth by the state and federal programs.
  • May perform related duties or task as assigned.
  • Follows the 5 daily directives.
